Junction

Places a dot where wires meet, joining every wire that passes through it.

When two wires cross and you want them connected, since KiCad only adds the dot itself where a wire ends on another.

Not decoration: without the dot, two wires that cross stay apart, and KiCad calls this Place Junctions.
