Power

Places a power symbol such as ground or 3.3 volts, and every symbol of that name joins the same net across the whole design.

When a pin needs a supply or ground and you would rather not draw a wire back to the regulator.

Not a source of power: it only names the supply net, and KiCad calls this Place Power Symbols.
