Add a part

Opens the symbol chooser, then drops the part you pick onto the sheet where you click.

When the circuit needs a resistor, a chip, a connector or any other part it does not have yet.

Not the part on the board: the schematic holds its symbol, and KiCad calls this Place Symbols.
